ECHOES: IMPERMANENT YET ENDLESS.

An echo is somewhat intangible. Felt and heard, and seen only in traces and fragments, echoes are impermanent, yet endless.
An echo is the dispersion of a movement of energy, a pulse that resounds on and on, back and forth, through time and space. Bats find their way through cavernous darkness and dolphins through watery depths by way of echoes. Doctors use echoes to listen to heartbeats. Mountains echo. People echo notions and ideas. We think of an echo as a continual interactive process; a whispering reflection; a migration of ripples.
We find multiple definitions for ‘echo’ in the English dictionary:
(Of a sound) To be repeated or reverberate after the original sound has stopped.
(Of an object or event) To be reminiscent of or have shared characteristics with.
A close parallel to an idea, feeling, or event
To fill a place with repeating sounds, or to be filled with these sounds
What stands out from all of these definitions is the idea of continuation, links, and parallels. An echo ties one thing to another. It contains within it the notion that something may never come to an end.
From these concepts, Echo Studios was born. It is a place where ideas echo around our artistic home, where creativity reverberates across disciplines and borders, where inspiration ripples between artists. These shared echoes are the heartbeat of our studio. When we put forth our ideas, when we experiment, play and create, echoes are generated, and something transformative and generative comes to fruition.

In London’s Trinity Bouy Wharf lighthouse, the remarkable and experimental Longplayer installation can be found, where Tibetan singing bowls create meditative music through shared vibrations. This unique composition will continue for 1000 years, continually and without repetition. When the sounds of different bowls are combined, a beautiful new kind of music brimming with depth is created.
This is how we think of our shared creative and experimental community space, where artists can produce, inspire, learn and connect with like-minded creatives through their shared echoes and vibrations. By sharing skills, collaborating, and inspiring each other, we are more flexible, more powerful, and more innovative, creating a unique tapestry of creativity.
