LIFE DRAWING GUIDE

We are excited to announce the introduction of our weekly Life Drawing sessions with our in-house artist Katia, a space in which to learn and develop your drawing skills and art practices alongside a community of fellow creatives. We spoke to Katia about her best practices for life drawing:

1. Don’t be afraid to use bigger paper format.

Bigger size gives more abilities. You can go deeper into details, muscles, bones, toes, folds. Small drawing will always stay approximate. We recommend take A4 minimum.

2. Use one medium within a session.

The choice of medium depends on your goal. Choose it before session. And during the process try one medium in different ways. If you have too many things with you there is a chance to get many anxious tries instead of drawings.

3. Change the scale.

There is no need to draw the full body. There are many stages between full size and close-up.

4. Take your time

Make sure your place is comfortable. Find your interest in each pose, form the task for yourself before drawing. Change the spot, walk around, come closer. Relax your muscles, skip the pose, it’s okay too.
